In weak network areas where the power lines are not integrated to the large electrical network, generators are used. These generators are used to supply excessive capacitive power. This eventually leads to overheating and malfunctioning. Power transformers during their working cycle may face an overvoltage situation called as ferroresonance. This can damage the transformers. Shunt reactors are used for compensating capacitive VARS which are generated by high voltage transmission lines. This is done in light loaded conditions inorder to avoid over voltage. Hence shunt reactors play a pivotal role in stabilizing network systems and also increasing grid efficiency.

Reactor transformers manufactured by URJA are provided with air cored magnetically shielded or non-magnetically shielded for series/shunt application up to 2 MVAR in voltage class up to 33 KV available in ONAN/AN type. They have F/H class insulation for series application is also available in single or three phase construction up to 1 MVAR in voltage class up to 33 KV.
